Director of Planning and Community Development – Job Posting. The town of Holliston is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time non-union position of Director of Planning and Community Development. Under the supervision of the Town Manager, the Director of Planning and Community Development serves as the Town Planner and provides strategic leadership, professional planning expertise, and administrative oversight for the Town’s land use and planning, as well as serving as a primary resource for economic development functions. The Director is responsible for advancing the town’s planning initiatives, guiding growth and development in alignment with community goals, and supporting the activities of the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), and Housing Trust. The position also fosters economic development opportunities and collaborates closely with other Land Use Departments, including Building, Board of Health, Conservation, the Department of Public Works, as well as Town Counsel to ensure coordinated and efficient review of development projects. Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, regional planning, public administration, or a closely related field required; a master’s degree preferred. Five to seven years of progressively responsible professional planning experience, including municipal experience. Demonstrated experience serving as a Town Planner or in a comparable municipal planning leadership role and supervisory experience preferred. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), benefit-eligible position classified as Grade M3. The anticipated hiring salary range is $88,678 – $105,000 annually, depending on experience.
