Bellingham is seeking an experienced and collaborative Director of Planning and Community Development/ Town Planner to perform professional and administrative duties in developing short and long-range plans and programs relating to community development including land use, conservation, economic development, and housing. The Director works closely with committees, all municipal departments, prospective developers, and the public; is responsible for coordinating all planning and development activities in the town. This position serves as staff support to the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals; reviews all land use applications for compliance, as well as ensures plans are developed as approved; directs all long-range planning initiatives; and coordinates the updates and implementation of the town’s Master Plan. The Director, who reports to the Town Administrator, provides technical advice to citizens and support to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and seeks and secures grants to support planning-related activities. The ideal candidate should be ready for a multi-faceted position with growth potential.
Job Responsibility:

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in regional, urban, community planning, public administration, engineering, environmental science or a related field
Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience
