Robert Half is looking for a Director of Operations Finance and Controller for a manufacturing client in the western suburbs. The Director of Operations Finance & Controller serves as a strategic finance partner responsible for overseeing the financial operations across global manufacturing or operational functions, with an additional focus on North American accounting oversight. This executive role provides leadership in managing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.

Job Responsibility:

  • Direct financial operations for global business units, including strategic oversight of financial planning, forecasting, and analysis
  • Act as the primary controller for all North American operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, compliance with GAAP/IFRS and company policies, and effective internal controls
  • Partner with global and regional senior leadership to drive financial performance, cost optimization, and process improvements
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance teams, fostering collaboration and operational excellence across multiple geographies
  • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, management reports, and operational reviews
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and other business transformation initiatives through financial due diligence and modeling
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies as needed for the North America region
  • Develop and implement finance-related policies, procedures, and systems to support scalability and transparency
  • Evaluate and mitigate financial risks, including currency, credit, and compliance risks
  • Drive process automation and the adoption of technologies (ERP, BI/reporting systems) to improve data quality and decision support

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • Master's degree and/or CPA/CMA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate finance, accounting, or controlling, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity overseeing global/regional teams
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or operations-intensive industry strongly preferred
  • Exceptional financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency with enterprise ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and business intelligence tools
  • Superior leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proven expertise in manufacturing cost accounting and standard cost accounting
  • Advanced proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Excel, and other enterprise systems
  • Strong financial planning and analysis (FP&A) skills, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience in month-end close processes and financial statement preparation
