The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall leadership and management of nursing services within the community, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role oversees clinical staff recruitment, training, and development while fostering a culture of compassion, accountability, and teamwork. The Director of Nursing partners closely with physicians, department leaders, and frontline caregivers to maintain excellence in resident outcomes, survey readiness, and quality improvement initiatives. Serving as both a clinical expert and organizational leader, the Director of Nursing ensures that nursing practices align with the mission and values of the community, while promoting resident dignity, safety, and satisfaction in a skilled nursing and senior living environment.
Job Responsibility:
Responsible for implementation of the nursing process by all staff for all residents
Become Acting Administrator in the absence of the Administrator
To provide total resident care in the facility
Staffing the nursing department including hiring the nursing staff and 24-hour scheduling of the nursing staff to meet the needs of the residents and to meet all legal requirements
Working with the Central Supply manager to ensure there are adequate nursing supplies available, keeping accurate inventory of nursing supplies as well as ordering supplies necessary to meet the needs of the residents while following budgetary guidelines
Assisting with input for nursing budgets
gathering data for proper assessment of facility needs in relation to budget
meeting with the Administrator at least quarterly to review the assessment and make plans for possible changes
Meeting nursing payroll and ancillary budgets
Coordinating nursing services with other departments
reviewing care daily
Assisting the Administrator in the development of all facility policies and procedures, with special responsibility for nursing personnel job description
shift duties to correspond to job descriptions
staffing patterns-, all nursing policies
evaluation of old and new policies and procedures
Responsible for participating in the screening prospective residents
Responsible for overseeing the coordination of admission and discharge of residents
Supervising nursing personnel by evaluating all nursing personnel 's job performance and giving wage increases when appropriate and within budgetary guidelines
Giving direction to all nursing personnel and providing instruction as needed

Responsible for disciplinary action of nursing personnel
Terminating nursing personnel according to facility policies and procedures
Responsible for dealing with all nursing grievances that are departmental
Leading the nursing department staff meetings
Orienting and training of all nursing personnel
Developing family and community involvement
Developing and maintaining a good working relationship with Federal, State and local agencies and with physicians
Comply with Federal, State and local laws as well as facility policies and procedures
Miscellaneous assignments as determined by the Administrator
Responsible for regular Patient Care Plan Conferences as follows, within 14 days after admission and every 90 days thereafter
Review and discuss each individual care plan to facilitate proper care for each resident and develop cooperative relationship with local hospitals, nursing homes, physicians and other related medical professionals, health care agencies, and families of residents

Requirements:
Registered Nurse currently licensed by the State of Arizona
Must have completed an approved Infection Preventionist Certification or the ability to obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire
Management experience preferred
Must maintain negative tuberculosis at hire and annually during employment
Flu shot and relevant immunizations are required
Must have current CPR certification. CPR certification must remain current during employment. Clinical Other/BCLS - Basic Life Support Current BLS, PALS and or ACLS
Possess current or has the ability to obtain an Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card is required
