Job Description:

This long-term contract-to-hire role leads and manages the organization's NERC compliance program.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leads and manages the organization's NERC compliance program by setting annual compliance objectives, maintaining the compliance risk register, and ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory standards
  • Drives audit readiness across all applicable registrations by coordinating evidence collection, quality reviews, and responses for audits, spot checks, and self-certifications
  • Conducting compliance gap analyses, overseeing root cause investigations, and managing corrective action plans through closure
  • Maintains program documentation and delivers executive-level reporting
  • Partners with operations, engineering, asset management, legal, and cybersecurity teams to integrate compliance into daily operations and change management processes

Requirements:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in energy compliance, operations, or cybersecurity with direct ownership of NERC Operations & Planning compliance
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing an enterprise NERC compliance program, including policies, controls, evidence management, and reporting
  • Strong audit leadership experience, including internal and external audits, spot checks, and self-certifications, with skills in gap analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
  • Experience serving as the primary liaison with NERC, FERC, and Regional Entities, including representing the organization in formal audit and compliance discussions
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to brief leadership, guide operational and IT teams, and promote a reliability-first culture

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on NERC CIP experience, including asset identification, access controls, incident response, and change management across IT and OT environments
  • Exposure to compliance requirements for wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) assets, including evolving standards for inverter-based resources
  • Experience developing role-based compliance training and awareness programs for operators, engineers, and contractors
