Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Mission Operations, the Director, Mission Operations provides strategic leadership, direction and support to Regional/State/Area Executive Directors, Program Directors, field employees and volunteers regarding fiscal responsibility, victim services oversight, capacity building, public policy support, underage drinking prevention, fund development and staff & volunteer management, including advisory board development, to ensure implementation of MADD's strategic plan and fulfillment of MADD's mission. This a fully remote position, with an annual salary of $130,000.

Job Responsibility

  • Recruit, train, develop, manage, and provide leadership to Regional/State/Area Executive Directors, mission operation employees and volunteers
  • Assist state leadership in the development of strategic capacity building plans for staff and volunteers to enable future growth
  • Ensure that the Area and State employee and volunteer demographics also reflect the demographics of the population served by the organization
  • Develop, implement, and sustain an Advisory Board, based on MADD's volunteer management model, for all states without Executive Director leadership
  • Provide oversight of the Advisory Board for all Executive Director states
  • Track and monitor renewals of State Advisory Boards and Chapter leadership
  • Monitor and analyze financial feasibility of assigned field offices to ensure adequate operational revenue for the development of core programs/services to fulfill MADD's mission and maintain a balanced budget
  • Manage Regional, State and Area Executive Directors to ensure that diversified fund development plans are being implemented for the continued financial sustainability of the state or region
  • Develop, implement, manage, and maintain a balanced budget and fund development plan for each entity without Executive Director leadership
  • Consistently analyze monthly financials to adequately forecast expense and revenue trends

  • Ensure financial reporting is submitted timely and accurately
  • In consultation with Mission Support Center departments, ensure accurate MADD messaging for staff & volunteers to represent MADD to the public, media, and other outside organizations
  • Promote the organization's mission and initiatives through pro-active outreach to these groups to raise awareness on the part of the public and elected officials
  • Advocate support for state and local political initiatives critical to the organization's mission through communicating/meeting with members of state legislature
  • Ensure that grant proposals follow MADD's program directives
  • Responsible for the oversight of all grant administration including relationship building with community partners and grantors, regular financial reporting, achievement of annual grant performance objectives through program development and fiscal management of the grant and adherence to all program and/or grant policies and guidelines
  • Establish annual goals and objectives for Regional/State/Area Executive Directors in accordance with MADD's strategic plan ensuring accountability to meet the goals and objectives
  • Ensure employees and volunteers in assigned region receive, understand, and are held accountable to meet their goals and objectives
  • Ensure policy/procedure compliance in mission operations
  • May assume leadership role of State or Region in the absence of an Executive Director or Area Executive Directors

Requirements

  • 7 - 9 years of progressively responsible operational experience, including at least three years in management
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience with non-profit/cause-related organizations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of and proven track record to create strategies to increase fundraising and achieve and or exceed financial goals
  • Also demonstrate skills in communications and building long-term relationships
  • Strong organizational skills detail and results focused with proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a high-volume environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and convey thoughts clearly, logically, and concisely both orally and in writing, using appropriate grammar, and command of the English language
  • Ability to work both independently and with others to resolve issues and maintain composure and professionalism in an environment of changing and/or multiple priorities
  • Must be able to work on a timetable, meet deadlines, follow instructions, and accept direction on given assignments
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain a high activity level
