The Director of Landscaping will provide supervision and direction for all landscaping functions for Four Seasons Resorts Lanai. Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, the Director of Landscaping will be passionate about insuring the healthful care and culture of all plants, flowers and grounds/lawns throughout both resorts, and will work closely with the Florist to insure interior plants and flowers are also maintained.
Job Responsibility:
Provide supervision and direction for all landscaping functions for Four Seasons Resorts Lanai
Ensure the successful care and maintenance of the resort’s diverse landscape environment
Oversight of Four Seasons Resort Lanai, Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort, and other entities across the island
Provide leadership, direction and management for team of 45 landscapers
Plan, schedule, assign and supervise the landscaping, seeding, weeding, cultivating, fertilizing and general maintenance of the resort grounds
Plan and supervise the cultivation, pruning, spraying and transplanting of a large variety of shrubs and trees
Ability to read and review as-built plans to ensure field conditions are documented
Ensure that all necessary equipment and tools have been procured and are maintained in high quality working order
Complete purchase orders and distribute materials and equipment for landscaping maintenance work
Understand the basic operations of lawn maintenance equipment and tools
Create department budget and manage profit/loss
Work closely with the Resort Manager, Director of Rooms and Director of Food & Beverage to communicate priorities and enhance the guest experience
Ensure highest quality landscape environment for a superior guest experience
Requirements:
Three-to-five years of successful landscaping leadership experience in a similar large-scale resort area
Significant understanding of horticulture challenges on an island terrain
Highly energetic, enthusiastic, strong communicator, and excellent leader
Aware of the complexities of team dynamics and cultural awareness
Licensed horticulturalist
Experience as a landscape contractor
Must hold a valid work authorization
At least eight years of successful horticultural and landscape maintenance leadership experience in a similar large-scale resort area
Thorough understanding of landscape construction
Experience working in a union environment preferred but not required
