The work involves responsibility for supervising, coordinating and supporting schoolwide information technology and telecommunications activities. The plans, direction and coordination of all school IT operations and activities, policies, procedures, standards are under the advisement of this position. The IT Director provides and assigns IT personnel to provide technical assistance and advice to school personnel regarding a solution focused system using data processing and systems to analyze and solve problems. The work is performed under the general direction of the superintendent with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment to carry out the details and scope of the work. Supervision is exercised over the work of all technology staff and the Director conducts all related work as required as well.
Job Responsibility:
Plans, directs, and coordinates all district information technology operations and activities
Supervisors, trains and provides assistance to IT staff
Develops and elements land area networks and wide-area networks including strategic plans for all district departments
Establishes coordinates and maintain schedules and priorities for the utilization of services, programming and training
establishes, reviews and modifies information technology policies procedures and standards
Coordinates, administrates contracts for programs, hardware, purchasing for the IT department via state contract vendors
Assigns, direct, reviews and evaluates the work of IT staff
Provides or assigns staff to provide technical assistance and advice to district departments and staff regarding related problems on providing coordination and leadership and working with stakeholders in district to develop and deliver cost effective solutions for services provided to students and staff
Oversees website development and utilization with a focus on updates
Oversee cyber security for the district and provides guidance to maintain social security measures and accommodation
Installs, modifies and maintains local area network equipment as required
Performs maintenance on necessary required needs for special education students and staff
Creates and maintains a variety of for records and reports related to district operation and procedures for the IT department
Develops an annual district technology budget for review and approval
Provides and arranges for technical training for students and staff as needed
Research new technologies to identify future needs of the district
Reach of new technology projects and establishes and maintains documentation for associated costs
Attends training, conferences and seminars as required
Prepares a multi analysis for purchase of technology equipment such as chrome books, servers, yearly rehabs
Provides technical advice and assistance to end users district wide in the identification and solution of technology problems as well as instruction on new equipment software or programs
Maintains vendor partnerships
Requirements:
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York state board of regents to grant degrees with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 30 credit hours in management information systems, computer science, information technology or closely related field in two years of service in network administration, information systems management or computing programming, one of which must’ve been in a supervisory capacity
Graduation from regionally accredited College University or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents two grand degrees with an associates degree including the or supplemented by 18 credit hours and course work to find in a and four years of service and experience as defined in a, two of which must’ve been in the supervisor capacity
High school diploma or GED and six years experience as a network specialist, three of which must have been in a supervisory capacity
Thorough knowledge of the overall operation of information technology systems
Thorough knowledge of LAN and WAN Network Systems including those used for telecommunications
Thorough knowledge of modern principles and practices of management information systems
Good knowledge of the computer hardware and software industry and products
Good knowledge of programming
Good knowledge and experience in application design and development of database concepts
Good knowledge of modern office technology, procedures and equipment
Ability to design, install, update and maintain LAN and WAN networks including those used for telecommunications
Ability to supervise the work of others ability to analyze and organize data and prepare records and reports
Ability to understand and interpret complex oral instructions and or written directions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
A fingerprint-supported criminal history background check is required by law for employment in New York State Schools
