Job Description

We are currently seeking a Director of Indirect Tax to join our team in Plano, Texas (US-TX), United States (US). Senior Director, Indirect Tax. Lead the global indirect tax function across federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions, including US sales & use, property, and telecommunications tax, as well as VAT & GST. Drive compliance, planning, audit management, business support and consulting, and strategic tax initiatives—ensuring alignment with business goals and minimizing tax exposure. Collaborate with IT and Finance integration teams to implement and manage tax engines and tax issues within the ERP systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide strategic tax planning and implement comprehensive sales/use and telecom tax, VAT/GST strategies across jurisdictions
  • Ensure all relevant telecom and indirect tax returns are prepared, reviewed and filed timely
  • Manage telecom and indirect tax audits, liaison with tax authorities as needed, and prepare research memos defending the company's tax positions
  • Monitor and interpret changes in indirect tax legislation, ensuring policy and process updates
  • Implement improvements to tax processes, leveraging technology (e.g., Vertex, ONESOURCE) for greater efficiency and accuracy in tax calculations and filings
  • Maintain exemption certificate programs and taxability matrices for services
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of tax policies, programs, and practices
  • Provide guidance on transactions, including telecom-related transactions, product/service taxability, and mergers and acquisitions
  • Collaborate with finance, IT, sales, and billing teams to ensure accurate tax calculation within billing and ERP systems
  • Lead and mentor a team of telecom and indirect tax professionals
  • Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, and governmental tax agencies
  • Prepare and present reports on indirect tax compliance and strategy to senior leadership and the board

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years' progressive experience in indirect taxation
  • Knowledge of US federal, state, local, and international telecom tax rules
  • Strong technical expertise in tax accounting, compliance, and audit management
  • Advanced experience with tax engines and ERP systems (e.g., Vertex, ONESOURCE, SAP, PeopleSoft)
  • Proven leadership, project management, and communication skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with telecom taxation within a large or multinational corporation or a highly regulated industry
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions, financing, or international tax optimization
  • Familiarity with supply chain structure for global IT services, SaaS, DaaS, telecom services, hardware resale, and billing system integration
  • Prior telecom industry experience
