The Director of Human Resources is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall direction, effectiveness, and integrity of all academic and staff human resources functions within UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). Reporting directly to the Dean, the Director serves as the chief HR advisor for the division and provides hands-on leadership to the HR team. This role is intentionally designed with a strong supervisory and people-leadership emphasis, paired with a clear mandate to modernize HR through innovation, technology, and proactive partnership. The Director is expected to move CPE HR from a reactive, fire-fighting model to a solutions-oriented, prevention-focused function that improves efficiency, communication, talent outcomes, and organizational health.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with UC academic and staff policies and procedures
Experience with UC academic and staff personnel systems
Experience working in a high-growth, technology-enabled environment
Demonstrated experience leading business process improvement, organizational change initiatives, and information systems implementations
Senior-level management experience with demonstrated ability to: Analyze complex and ambiguous information objectively
Assess enterprise-level implications and interdependencies
Derive logical conclusions to support sound decision-making
Establish priorities, select appropriate courses of action, and provide clear recommendations to leadership
Resolve conflicts and competing interests in a principled, strategic manner
Strategic planning, analytical, and program evaluation skills to provide sound recommendations and to continually examine, develop, and revise systems in response to changing organizational and regulatory requirements

Familiarity with Academic Senate, Academic Federation, staff personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements, and student employment regulations
Familiarity with Objectives and Key Results (OKR) system implementation, monitoring, and performance tracking
