Job Description

The Technology Strategy Director is a senior leader within GWS Central Operations who builds and drives a cohesive, AI-native technology vision across all Global Workplace Services functions — Real Estate, Facilities Delivery, Global Security, and Culinary. This role serves as the primary technology authority for GWS, translating business needs into a long-term strategic roadmap and ensuring successful implementation through Enterprise Engineering and vendor partners. This is a high-visibility role that requires equal fluency in strategic thinking and operational execution. The right candidate is a natural cross-functional connector who builds consensus among senior stakeholders, thrives in ambiguity, and brings both technical credibility and commercial instinct to every decision. They act as a product visionary and change agent — proactively scanning the market for emerging technologies while maintaining the delivery discipline to see initiatives through to measurable outcomes. The role also carries direct people leadership responsibility, overseeing an 8-person Data and Analytics team.

Job Responsibility

  • Define and maintain a multi-year, AI-native technology roadmap across the full GWS portfolio — including IWMS, space planning, smart building infrastructure, and culinary management platforms
  • Set the strategic technology agenda across GWS partner teams
  • Maintain a clear view of the full vendor landscape, identifying opportunities to consolidate, rationalise, or modernise the tooling portfolio
  • Ensure all GWS technology initiatives align with Enterprise Engineering standards, security policies, and architectural principles
  • Track PropTech and workplace technology trends, build relationships with innovators, and identify pilot opportunities
  • Provide strategic oversight of the GWS technology programme portfolio
  • Oversees the Data and Analytics team, enabling data-driven decision-making across GWS

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in technology strategy, product management, or enterprise technology consulting, with significant focus on global workplace services, facilities management, or a closely related operational domain
  • 5+ years in a people leadership role managing teams and cross-functional technology programmes at scale
  • Demonstrated track record developing and executing technology roadmaps in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
  • Working knowledge of the GWS technology landscape — including leading IWMS platforms (Archibus, Planon, IBM TRIRIGA, or ServiceNow WSD), smart building and IoT technologies, and the vendor ecosystems serving Facilities and Culinary functions
  • Professional experience with enterprise IT governance, architecture principles, and cybersecurity fundamentals — sufficient to engage credibly with Enterprise Engineering counterparts
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management — able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, build trusted relationships across organizational levels, and drive alignment among teams with competing priorities
  • Proven ability to build business cases, manage vendor contracts, and optimize technology spend

Nice to have

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (MBA, MSc in Information Systems, or professional qualification in real estate/facilities management)
  • Experience in a large global organization with a distributed real estate portfolio
  • Exposure to PropTech venture ecosystems, smart building standards (WELL, LEED, BREEAM), or sustainability technology platforms
