Our perfect candidate will thrive in a fun and casual environment, pay it forward daily, and add value to the company by supporting, directing, overseeing, and leading programs and processes for managing food safety and product quality at The HoneyBaked Ham Co. This role will manage existing programs and processes (and continually improve these programs) as well as develop new policies and programs when necessary. We have a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and two days working from home. This role will have an advanced understanding of food safety, quality assurance, and food/packaging regulations. They should have advanced risk assessment skills and be comfortable performing and leading root cause analysis and interpreting complaint and defect trends. The candidate will have demonstrated experience and ability leading and developing teams while serving internal clients and functions as the subject matter expert in food safety and product quality.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead a team of food safety and quality assurance professionals tasked with program and policy development and management, regulatory compliance, and the execution of these policies and programs in client lines of business
  • Assist in the continued development of the policies and programs aimed at mitigating identified food safety risks
  • Continually improve policy and program documentation and continuously review relevancy and compliance
  • Ensure HBH policies and programs are consistent with agencies such as FDA, FSIS and FDA Food Code
  • Work cross functionally to support the end-to-end delivery chain quality program
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product Development and Procurement/Distribution to ensure clear quality protocols and processes are in place to support onboarding new suppliers and products
  • Lead product quality and food safety continuous improvement activities through the transformation and analysis of data
  • Assist in maintaining a positive food safety and quality culture with a focus on brand protection, collaboration, and education

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Food Science or related
  • 7+ years of work experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, HACCP
  • Strong understanding of federal, state and local regulations for restaurants
  • Experience in the management of Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Quality Systems, Technical Services, or similar functions
  • Food industry experience
  • Understanding of restaurant operations and procedures
  • Experience leading a team
  • Ability to establish quality assurance procedures/policies and produce documented instructions and procedures
  • Ability to convey a guest focused, brand protection mindset
  • ServSafe certification
  • Ability to influence others to deliver results and to work effectively with those inside and outside the organization and at all organizational levels
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft based software including Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
