We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead the financial strategy and operations of the hotel, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and performance. This role is responsible for safeguarding hotel assets, delivering accurate and timely financial insights, and partnering with senior leadership to drive profitability and sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will champion financial integrity, operational excellence, and continuous improvement, while maintaining strong relationships with ownership, corporate teams, and key stakeholders. This opportunity is for the upcoming new opening, Four Seasons Resort Okinawa, Japan.
Job Responsibility
Safeguard hotel assets and financial resources to maximise profitability
Ensure full compliance with local regulations, corporate policies, and Management Agreement requirements
Provide timely, accurate financial reporting and strategic counsel to senior management
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures
Oversee preparation of monthly financial reports in line with corporate standards and accounting principles
Ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial data, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations
Monitor Accounts Receivable and collections to meet company standards
Ensure proper documentation, approvals, and compliance for all contracts, leases, and agreements
Oversee hotel cash flow and daily cash position to optimise use of funds
Ensure appropriate banking structures, controls (e.g., authorised signatories, positive pay), and financial safeguards are in place
Monitor long-term debt, loan covenants, and related interest accruals where applicable
Monitor and control all revenues, costs, and expenses to drive profitability
Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in alignment with corporate and ownership expectations
Drive cost discipline, including labour management, while maintaining service standards
Identify and support new business opportunities that enhance hotel performance
Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and audit requirements
Maintain strong relationships with ownership, auditors, and external partners
Implement audit recommendations and ensure timely follow-up actions
Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team, building capability for both current and future needs
Maintain strong working relationships across departments and with the Home Office
Manage employee relations matters consistently and ensure proper documentation
Conduct effective department meetings and ensure follow-through on key actions
Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and operational efficiency
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including Planning Committee and Department Heads
Effectively advocate Finance programs and policies across the hotel
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a similar Finance leadership role within Four Seasons or a comparable organisation
Proven experience in a hotel or resort environment, with strong operational understanding
Demonstrated leadership capability in a hotel or resort setting, with the ability to guide and influence teams
High level of integrity, professionalism, and transparency in all financial and business practices
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence decision-making
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial insights clearly and effectively
Strong business acumen with strategic and analytical thinking capabilities
Solid technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), with hands-on understanding across Accounting, Purchasing, and Food & Beverage control functions
Working knowledge of hotel systems and operations, with the ability to translate financial data into operational insights
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems
Ability to foster a continuous learning environment, supporting team development and growth
Applies sound judgement and ethical decision-making in complex situations
