Job Description

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on finance leader to oversee the full financial operation of our construction-focused business in Milford, Massachusetts. This role will guide accounting activities, strengthen reporting accuracy, and provide leadership with clear financial insight to support sound decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in construction finance, a practical command of core accounting systems, and the ability to build processes that scale with growth.

Job Responsibility

  • Direct day-to-day accounting and finance activities, including ledger oversight, close processes, financial statement preparation, and control management
  • Administer QuickBooks financial operations with a focus on precise cost tracking, appropriate revenue treatment, and dependable reporting timelines
  • Manage the financial use of Buildertrend by supporting project budgets, tracking costs, handling change order impact, and producing project-level financial visibility
  • Evaluate job performance by comparing budget expectations to actual results and working with project leaders to resolve cost variances
  • Oversee cash management activities, including forecasting liquidity needs, supervising payables and receivables, and coordinating vendor disbursements
  • Lead construction billing activities such as progress invoicing, retainage administration, change order billing, and related documentation requirements
  • Prepare and deliver financial reports and leadership dashboards that communicate business performance to ownership and senior management
  • Serve as the primary finance contact for external partners such as accounting advisors, auditors, lenders, and insurance representatives
  • Establish and refine financial procedures, reporting practices, and internal controls to improve consistency and support expansion

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including substantial exposure to the construction industry
  • Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks in a business environment
  • Experience using Buildertrend for budgeting, job costing, and project financial oversight
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles such as work-in-progress reporting, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Ability to balance multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced operating environment
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to partner across operational teams and executive leadership
