We are looking for a skilled Director of Finance to oversee and guide the financial operations of our organization in San Antonio, Texas. This role involves providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the executive team with insights for effective decision-making. The ideal candidate will manage financial processes, supervise staff, and maintain the integrity of all accounting, purchasing, and payroll functions.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and mentor financial staff, including the Staff Accountant, Purchasing Coordinator, and Payroll Clerk
Oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational policies
Provide comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic planning and executive decision-making
Develop and manage the organization's budget, including forecasting and long-term financial planning
Ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting, conducting audits and reviews to maintain compliance
Supervise audits and compliance initiatives, including financial statements, benefit plans, and regulatory filings
Collaborate with department heads to review budget reports, analyze variances, and provide actionable recommendations
Manage relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and advisors to ensure smooth operations
Prepare and present detailed financial reports to the Finance Committee, Board Treasurer, and Executive Leadership
Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to protect organizational assets and investments
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
advanced certifications preferred
7–10 years of accounting experience
3–5 years in a supervisory capacity
Proven expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, fund accounting, and budget management
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
Strong communication skills
Experience in nonprofit financial management is highly desirable
Strategic thinking abilities
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Valid Texas driver’s license or capability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe
