Job Description:

Teradyne’s IST group utilizes advanced instrumentation, high-throughput software and electro-mechanical handling solutions to validate semiconductor device performance and determine whether product quality levels have been achieved in the manufacturing process. Each one of these solutions require a level of customer specific applications in both Hardware and Software. The Director of Factory Applications will manage development activities across our global customer base. This individual will report to the Sr. Director of Product Marketing and be a part of the Product Marketing Management team. The position will have 3 – 5 direct reports and be responsible for building this team out as the business expands.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leadership of strategic solution development, deliverables to engineering projects, support to Field Engineers design-in activity and productivity improvement initiatives
  • Establish new levels of device test and instrument expertise within the group
  • Determine Factory Apps budget, staffing levels, hire and mentor staff in IST global locations
  • Lead the Factory Applications experts to develop strategic test solutions for new devices on our customers’ roadmaps
  • Team with Marketing to provide direct input to Design Engineering for new product requirements that provide competitive differentiation
  • Execute deliverables in parallel with product development to ensure new products roll out successfully
  • Integrate with the User Technical Publications
  • Provide support to the Field Applications engineers when Design-in account projects are in flight by providing support to solution development and an interface to Design Engineering
  • Implement productivity tools, strategic test solutions and advanced training

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree ideally in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science
  • At least 15 years of applications, product development, sales, and/or marketing experience for a company that has a reputation in delivering world-class products
  • Managerial or leadership experience having led a team of greater than four team members
  • Experience in attracting additional high performers to the organization
  • Ability to lead the customer facing aspects of application development and work with the research and development teams in Engineering
  • Experience in successfully handling complex customer applications problems and challenges occurring across multiple regions
  • Ability to work with teams outside of their direct span of control for successful implementation
  • Communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Previous “hands on” use of Automatic Test Equipment or System Level Test Equipment
  • Ability to understand how to identify technical product differentiation with our hardware and software for alignment with marketing
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Capable of taking key actions to inspire others around a vision of IST’s future
  • Ability to solicit the involvement of others across both internal and external organizations and build a sense of ownership
