Job Description:

World Relief is seeking a Director of Education, who will provide strategic and operational leadership for World Relief Memphis’ adult learning initiatives, including English as a second language (ESL), integrated course offerings, and other educational programming that equips immigrants and refugees for long-term stability and belonging.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Education Department
  • Translate the organization’s mission and strategic goals into a cohesive educational strategy
  • Serve as a member of the WRM Leadership Team
  • Foster a departmental culture characterized by continuous improvement, inclusion, and learner dignity
  • Hire, supervise and support Education Department staff
  • Collaborate with the Director of National Education Services
  • Oversee the full portfolio of adult learning programs
  • Lead the project management and launch strategy of WR Memphis’ ConnecTEFL certificate program re-design
  • Ensure high-quality delivery of all programs
  • Maintain and modify program policies and procedures for departmental operations
  • Guide the transition of WRM’s education model to a distributed network
  • Collaborate with other department directors to co-design adult learning workshops
  • Recruit contracted classroom instructors
  • Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Specialist to promote Connect Language Center products
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with education institutions, employers, faith communities, nonprofits, and local government agencies
  • Collaborate with the Church & Community Engagement Department to mobilize volunteers
  • Represent WRM in local coalitions, education networks, and community events
  • Ensure curricula and methodologies align with proven models
  • Oversee departmental budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal accountability
  • Ensure programs meet or exceed funder requirements and internal performance metrics
  • Contribute to the diversification of funding streams
  • Support grant proposal development, compliance reporting, and data collection
  • Establish clear metrics to evaluate program effectiveness
  • Review program data regularly with staff
  • Contribute to organizational learning by sharing success stories
  • Ensure departmental participation in internal and external monitoring, audits, and evaluation processes

Requirements:

  • Mature and personal Christian faith

  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • graduate degree in education, nonprofit management, TESOL, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in adult education, workforce development, or community-based education leadership
  • Experience working cross-culturally and in partnership with immigrant or refugee communities
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience supervising and developing staff
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate ESL and adult education programs
  • Proven ability to think strategically while managing operational details effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cross-cultural competency
  • Experience cultivating partnerships and mobilizing volunteers in diverse community contexts
  • Business acumen and comfort with budget management, forecasting, performance tracking, and desire to lead collaborative marketing conversations that yield results
  • Commitment to learner-centered, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive educational practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Collaborate as a member of the programmatic leadership team, which may consist of the MPA Dean/Program Director, Medical Director, Director of Academic Education, and Director of Student Success to achieve a shared vision for the program.
  • Collaborate with the MPA Dean/Program Director, Medical Director, and the WCU Clinical Operations team to develop, evaluate, and maintain clinical sites and preceptors sufficient in number and quality to meet ARC-PA Standards.
  • Communicate with MPA Dean/Program Director ongoing new site development and needed support to facilitate Program/Preceptor relationships, including support from the Medical Director.
  • Contacts, develops new and maintains established clinical affiliations, assuring all clinical sites meet the program’s prescribed learning outcomes, and securing appropriate contact and specific contractual agreement information including identified preceptors, number and types of placements, renewals, insurance and liability matters, and other pertinent issues important to seamless transition of students to clinical sites.
  • Prepares and submits to MPA Dean/Program Director annual program clinical calendar, individual student clinical placement schedule, and oversees preparation and formal distribution of student clinical placement assignments with detailed site, setting, and discipline-related information on timeline set by MPA Dean/Program Director.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and performance evaluation for the clinical phase team, as assigned.
  • Develops, maintains, and conducts a schedule for clinical site visitation and presents a written copy to the MPA Dean/Program Director at a specified time each year with updated list of new and renewed affiliation agreements.
  • Develops, implements, stores, and updates as needed Clinical Site Visit Forms to ensure rapid retrieval and MPA Dean/Program Director and faculty access to documented site visits and/or phone calls.
  • Conduct clinical site visits and monitor student performance in Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPEs).
  • Lead the design, development, implementation, coordination and ongoing evaluation of an innovative clinical curriculum to ensure alignment with ARC-PA Standards, PAEA’s End-of-Rotation Exams, the NCCPA blueprint, and degree requirements.
