Job Description:

Cleveland Institute of Art, a private college of art and design, seeks a candidate to fill the full-time position of Director of Development. In consultation and under the supervision of the Vice President of Institutional Advancement + External Relations, the Director of Development is responsible for designing and leading a strategic, comprehensive, data-driven fundraising program that significantly expands philanthropic support for Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA).

Job Responsibility:

  • Design and lead a strategic, comprehensive, data-driven fundraising program
  • Strengthen and grow annual giving
  • Drive donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades
  • Establish strategies across individual, alumni, parent, and community constituencies
  • Serve as prospect manager for a portfolio of leadership-level donors
  • Cultivate and steward long-term relationships
  • Play a key role in preparing CIA for future campaign opportunities
  • Support the Vice President of Institutional Advancement in strategic leadership
  • Build sustainable systems
  • Expand the giving pipeline
  • Elevate philanthropic culture across the College
  • Establish strategic and execution plans for annual and leadership giving, including multichannel solicitation campaigns, donor segmentation, and performance analytics
  • Supervise and develop direct reports, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations + Scholarships and Advancement Operations Manager
  • Cultivate a collaborative advancement culture and professional development pathways within Institutional Advancement

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Minimum of 7–10 years in development, preferably in higher education or the nonprofit sector
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising leadership roles
