We have an amazing opportunity for a Director of Development to join a rapidly growing multi-brand hospitality and retail operator expanding throughout the tri-state markets! This is a senior leadership role with the opportunity to influence growth strategy, lead new unit development initiatives, and partner closely with executive leadership to drive expansion across multiple brands and concepts. Job Responsibility
Partnering with Real Estate leadership to evaluate new sites and determine development feasibility
Managing projects from initial site due diligence through entitlements, permitting, and delivery to construction
Building and managing complete project budgets from acquisition through certificate of occupancy
Leading consultant selection, contract negotiations, and performance management across multiple projects
Coordinating architectural, engineering, design, and franchise approval processes
Leading municipal approvals, including zoning applications, planning board hearings, and permitting processes
Managing project schedules, budgets, risks, and critical milestones across multiple active developments
Partnering cross-functionally with Construction, Operations, Finance, and executive leadership to ensure successful project execution
Providing regular development updates, project reporting, and portfolio visibility to leadership
Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Real Estate Development, or related field
Possess a minimum of 8–10 years of progressive development experience with at least 5 years leading entitlement and pre-construction efforts for retail, restaurant, or multi-unit development projects
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously across complex development pipelines
Strong understanding of municipal entitlement processes, zoning requirements, permitting, and development approvals
Proven ability to build and manage project budgets while maintaining schedule discipline
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with consultants, municipalities, franchise partners, landlords, and executive leadership
Nice to have
Experience with QSR, franchise, retail, or multi-unit development strongly preferred
Professional licenses or credentials, including PE, AIA, or AICP, are a plus
