The Director of Decision Support Systems and Data Analytics is responsible for leading the data analytics strategy, overseeing a team of analysts, developing data infrastructure, and extracting actionable insights from organizational data to inform critical business decisions. The Director also ensures that data quality and governance practices are implemented across the IT landscape to drive operational efficiency and strategic planning. In addition, this candidate will also help lead a migration from Ellucian Banner to Workday.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage the business intelligence and data analytics team to deliver high-quality insights and reports
Develop and implement data-driven strategies to support the growth of educational programs and research initiatives and improve operational efficiency
Design and implement robust data warehousing and data lake architectures to store and manage large datasets
Ensure seamless data integration across various systems and data sources
Evaluate and implement new data analytics tools and technologies to enhance capabilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including faculty, administrative staff, and research departments, to identify and translate institutional needs into data solutions
Utilize advanced analytics techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decision-making
Ensure data integrity and accuracy through effective data management practices tailored to the client's environment
Drive innovation and continuous improvement in data analytics methodologies and tools to support the client’s mission
Communicate complex data findings clearly and promptly to stakeholders at all levels
Help lead migration from Ellucian Banner to Workday
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
7–10 years in data analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering
3–5 years leading analytics or BI teams
Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and SQL
Experience with data warehousing/data lakes and data integration
Working knowledge of data governance and data quality practices
Nice to have:
Master’s degree in data science, Analytics, Health Informatics, or MBA
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Knowledge of advanced analytics (predictive modeling, Python/R)
Experience in healthcare, academic medicine, or higher education
Familiarity with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, FERPA)
Experience developing enterprise data strategy
Hands-on experience leading Banner to Workday migrations
