Part of the Business Services and Compliance directorate, the Director of Commercial and Legal is a strategic and influential role at Migrant Help. You will lead the organisation’s commercial function and legal oversight, as part of the Business Services and Compliance function, covering commissioning authority/customer relationship management, contracts and procurement, legal protection and compliance, and commercial regulation. You will take ownership of contractual and legal matters for Migrant Help and our subsidiary, Clear Voice. Working in partnership with senior leaders, the Director of Commercial & Legal oversees contractual agreements: interpreting, negotiating and supporting our entry into agreements, and understanding required compliance for legal agreements.
Job Responsibility:

Providing commercial support to new business development initiatives, bids and tenders
Overseeing the review and negotiation of all major commercial contracts
Supporting the construction and negotiation of contractual arrangements
Supporting the procurement of critical and high-value items
Supporting management of subcontractors and high-value suppliers
Maintaining close working relationships with our commissioners’ commercial teams
Maintaining a clear understanding of and providing or sourcing up-to-date knowledge of the legal framework
Line management of senior staff within the Commercial and Legal team
Leading the management of organisational insurance
Being the organisational owner for all contracts and grant agreements
Maintaining record of all significant financial commitments and grant agreements
Overseeing relationships with external legal advisers
As requested, supporting the CPO in employment legal matters
Developing effective strategies for commercial and legal matters
Developing senior and future leaders
Managing interactions and building relationships with key stakeholders
Promoting equity, diversity and inclusion
Encouraging and enabling working with clients through our Lived Experience Advisory Panels
Requirements:
Extensive experience in leading in commercial law, contracts or relevant areas
Demonstrable experience managing complex contractual and legal matters at a senior level in line with excellent knowledge of best practice, legal frameworks and strategic approaches
Experience in contracting within government frameworks, including management of change requests and contract management meetings
Excellent people management, coaching and team-building skills, able to drive the best performance from teams and individuals
Ability to understand, evaluate and advocate effective and persuasive strategies, contributing to the wider direction of the organisation
