Job Description

Are you a growth-minded sales leader with a passion for the e-commerce ecosystem? Our established Financial Services client is looking for a Director of Client Development to spearhead the growth of our eCommerce Solutions program. This is a unique “player-coach” opportunity. You will start on the ground floor—directly pitching high-potential digital merchants and securing scalable distribution partners (like web agencies and tech platforms). As you prove the model and scale the pipeline, you will have the mandate to build, recruit, and lead a dedicated sales team. If you have an “owner” mentality and thrive on turning partial leads into massive partnerships, we want to talk to you.

Job Responsibility

  • Drive Revenue: Pitch and enroll small-to-mid-sized digital merchants into their eCommerce Solutions program, articulating exactly how we help them scale
  • Optimize the Funnel: Proactively hunt for dropped or partial leads within the e-commerce sales funnel, establishing contact to re-engage, enroll, and activate them
  • Secure Scale Partners: Identify and pitch distribution partners (web agencies, nascent SaaS platforms) that hold networks of small merchants to enable enrollment at scale
  • Build the Future Team: Establish the foundational sales processes required to eventually hire, train, and lead a high-performing client development team
  • Collaborate & Innovate: Partner with cross-functional product and marketing teams. Act as the voice of the market by relaying competitive insights and merchant feedback to continuously improve our product offering
  • Model Excellence: Ensure sales goals are consistently met or exceeded while championing Financial Values and integrity

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in sales, business development, or marketing roles
  • Proven track record managing or running consumer finance, POS financing, or Private Label Credit Card (PLCC) programs (either from the banking or retail side)
  • Bachelor’s degree, OR 10+ years of equivalent professional work experience in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed to meet partners or attend industry events

Nice to have

  • An “owner” mentality—you don’t wait for instructions
  • you see a gap and build a bridge
  • Deep familiarity with the e-commerce landscape, ecosystem platforms (Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce), or web agency networks
  • A healthy appetite for building a program from the ground up and a desire to transition into a team leadership role
  • Exceptional communication and creative pitching skills that instantly build trust with digital merchants
