Job Description

A prominent UK membership body is seeking an outstanding Director of Business to lead its strategy, value proposition and engagement for members working in industry. This senior leadership role shapes the organisation’s support for business‑based professionals and oversees technical policy, thought leadership and guidance across Corporate Reporting, Financial Services, and Governance & Ethics.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the strategy, development and delivery of support for members working in business
  • Build and manage relationships with senior industry stakeholders, including Chairs, C‑suite and Non‑Executives across major UK companies
  • Oversee technical policy, thought leadership and member guidance across Corporate Reporting, Financial Services and Governance & Ethics
  • Establish channels to gather insight from business members to inform public policy
  • Work closely with regional, international and commercial teams to ensure aligned member support and identify reputational risks
  • Inspire and lead a high‑performing team, championing inclusion and continuous learning

Requirements

  • Extensive senior leadership experience within a membership body, professional services firm or business support environment
  • Strong track record in developing strategic value propositions and member engagement programmes
  • Deep experience in technical policy and thought leadership across Corporate Reporting, Governance and Ethics
  • Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders, including FTSE‑level executives
  • Commercially astute, collaborative and confident operating across complex organisational structures
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent professional qualification essential
