Job Description

Robert Half Management Resources is seeking a Director of Benefits to support our premier Food and Beverage client by leading the strategy, financial stewardship, and operational delivery of U.S. employee benefits programs. This position requires a seasoned benefits executive with substantial expertise in self-funded health plans, regulatory compliance, and effective management of comprehensive benefits offerings. As a long-term contract engagement, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, optimizing cost management, and enhancing the overall employee experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage the design, implementation, and ongoing administration of U.S. employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, pharmacy, life insurance, disability, and wellness offerings
  • Oversee self-funded medical plans, ensuring effective vendor communication and plan management
  • Coordinate benefits operations across a multi-entity organization while maintaining compliance and accuracy
  • Develop financial strategies for health plans, including budgeting, forecasting, and reserve analysis
  • Conduct financial modeling to assess the impact of proposed plan changes
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks and fiduciary requirements by maintaining audit readiness and internal controls
  • Address complex employee benefits issues, including eligibility discrepancies and claims concerns, serving as the escalation point for resolution
  • Collaborate with payroll teams to troubleshoot and resolve benefits-related deduction errors
  • Act as the primary liaison with brokers, consultants, and carriers, overseeing vendor performance and compliance
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve employee understanding of available benefits

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in employee benefits
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven expertise in managing self-funded health plans and navigating related complexities
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks impacting employee benefits programs
  • Advanced financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and reserve analysis
  • Experience managing large-scale benefits operations across multiple legal entities
  • Skilled in addressing complex benefits issues and ensuring compliance with applicable policies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, brokers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills to guide employees and HR teams on benefits-related matters
