The town of Marion (pop. Approx. 5,000) is accepting applications for a permanent Director of Assessing. This position works under the general administrative and policy direction of the Board of Assessors. This position performs a variety of routine and complex technical, administrative, and field work related to the appraisal and valuation of commercial, residential, industrial, and personal property. This position oversees the town's assessing functions in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Department of Revenue, Bureau of Local Assessment and locally adopted policies of the Board of Assessors. The ideal candidate should be a Massachusetts Accredited Assessor, have a bachelor's degree or three to five years of experience. Must be a knowledgeable and self-motivated assessment professional who combines strong analytical ability with sound judgment and exceptional communication skills. Applicants should be experienced in property valuation, and be proficient with CAMA systems such as Vision Appraisal, Munis and RRC. Should have knowledge of Massachusetts Assessing Laws and be able to interpret complex real estate and financial data with accuracy and consistency. The candidate will excel at working independently, managing multiple deadlines, and providing courteous, solution-oriented service to taxpayers, colleagues, and appointed and elected boards. This is full time salaried position with compensation starting at $94,406 depending upon experience. The hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m – 3:30 p.m., with evening and weekend hours as necessary. Resumes will be accepted until position is filled.
