We are looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to join our team on a long-term contract basis in San Francisco, California. This position will play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and compliance while leading a small accounting team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial reporting, leadership, and accounting processes, particularly within the investment industry. This hybrid role requires on-site work three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage a team of three accounting professionals, providing guidance and oversight
  • Oversee financial reporting processes to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries with accuracy and efficiency
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end close processes
  • Collaborate with internal teams to prepare and review financial statements and reports
  • Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure operational effectiveness
  • Utilize accounting tools such as Sage Intacct, Concur Expense, Asana, and bill.com to streamline processes
  • Support external audits by preparing documentation and addressing auditor inquiries
  • Stay updated on GAAP accounting standards and apply them to financial operations

Requirements

  • CPA certification is prefered
  • Extensive experience in month-end close processes and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in accounting software, including Sage Intacct, Concur Expense, and bill.com
  • Familiarity with Asana for task management and collaboration
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams in an accounting or finance role
  • Experience in the investment industry is highly preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple priorities
