This position will oversee accounting operations for multifamily and affordable housing properties, requiring hands-on involvement and direct client interaction.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise and manage a team of four direct reports and one outsourced vendor partner to ensure seamless accounting operations
Perform property accounting tasks directly, including managing accrual accounting processes and reconciling accounts
Collaborate with state agencies and demonstrate initiative in learning regulatory requirements related to affordable housing
Utilize Yardi software to manage financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and month-end close processes
Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards
Oversee audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors
Maintain strong relationships with high-touch clients, addressing inquiries and delivering exceptional service
Travel between corporate locations as needed, utilizing the provided auto allowance
Support remote team members and ensure effective communication and productivity
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting for multiple properties
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, preferably in multifamily and affordable housing
Proficiency in Yardi software is required
Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and financial reporting
Experience managing remote employees and outsourced vendor resources
Ability to work onsite with flexibility for remote work up to two days per week
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
