We are looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to oversee the wholesale accounting functions for a dynamic furniture manufacturing business in Newton, North Carolina. This role will manage accounting operations for domestic manufacturing plants and imported product lines, with total sales of approximately $225 million. The Director of Accounting will collaborate closely with plant controllers, operations teams, and corporate management to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective cost analysis.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the accounting operations for multiple manufacturing plants and imported product lines, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance
Develop and maintain standard costs for pricing products by analyzing material and manufacturing expenses
Monitor production efficiencies and variances, proposing and supporting process improvement initiatives
Prepare detailed monthly financial statements, including variance analyses, for review by operations and corporate leadership
Collaborate with engineering and purchasing teams to accurately cost new products and review existing product costs
Conduct financial data analysis to identify key business drivers and support informed decision-making
Manage annual budgets and forecasts for manufacturing locations and cost centers
Oversee inventory control processes, including cycle counts and audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Perform gross margin analysis to ensure inventories are accurately valued and meet compliance requirements
Ensure robust financial controls and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance across all accounting operations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
CPA certification is preferred
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with strong expertise in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with the entire Microsoft Office suite
Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and similar cost accounting systems
Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and related financial controls
Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present data to plant and corporate management
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
