ZT Systems is seeking a highly experienced Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead a team responsible for the design and development of advanced server solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration across global teams.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the mechanical engineering team in the development of server and rack-level systems from concept through production
Direct system architecture, design reviews, prototyping, validation, and implementation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, thermal, firmware, and manufacturing to ensure cohesive product development
Engage directly with customers and suppliers to gather requirements and deliver tailored mechanical solutions
Balance cost, performance, quality, and schedule across multiple concurrent projects
Provide technical mentorship and career development for engineering staff
Drive innovation in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Master’s degree preferred
15+ years of experience in mechanical and structural design, with a focus on electro-mechanical systems
5+ years of experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex electro-mechanical systems
Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, especially in data center environments
Expertise in thermal management, structural design, vibration control, and high-volume manufacturing techniques (e.g., sheet metal, injection molding)
Strong grasp of the interplay between mechanical, electrical, thermal, power, firmware, and networking systems
Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills
Proficiency in CAD tools (Pro-E/Creo, AutoCAD), FEA, and thermal simulation tools (Flotherm, Ansys preferred)
Ability to work independently and report progress effectively in a fast-paced environment
