Job Description

Provides vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology strategic initiatives, as well as supporting these initiatives in a "hands on manner" across several entities within a publicly traded company. Areas of responsibility include the "full range" of information systems, and leading company-wide efforts to improve the effective use of technology in a cost savings manner for all locations across the organization. This position may require up to 20% travel to support ERP implementations across multiple sites.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop Information Technology strategy in support of the company's mission and core objectives by researching and evaluating new technologies
  • Lead the implementation from legacy systems to new ERP system
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems to include servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, software applications and peripherals
  • Effectively manage IT controls to be in compliance with SOX requirements
  • Provide expertise and support during system upgrades, installations, conversions, and system hardware maintenance
  • Oversee system development and enhancement and the integration of new systems with existing systems
  • Information systems planning, budgeting, purchasing, and implementation
  • Coordinate and manage all work with IT support vendors, negotiating service level agreements to ensure the agreed targets and standards are met
  • Develop and implement policies, best practices, standard operating procedures, security, and disaster recovery relating to information and telecommunications systems for company's end users
  • Supporting all departments in maintaining policies and procedures in electronic formats and assisting with other electronic document needs
  • Manage and develop IT staff
  • Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance
  • Hold team members accountable for health, safety and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review process
  • Ensure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained
  • Carry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements
  • Ensure that training is provided to all departmental employees are per established training matrix
  • Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts
  • Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition
  • Provide information, instruction and supervision to employees
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees

Requirements

  • B.S. or equivalent work experience, or combination of education and experience required
  • 10-15+ years information technology experience required
  • Public company experience a plus
  • 5-7+ years previous management experience required
  • Experience with ERP systems implementations such as JD Edwards or SAP
  • Excellent oral communication, listening, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Willingness to share knowledge with team members, superiors, and users
  • Ability to listen to users in a courteous and friendly manner, acknowledge the reality of their problems, translate their descriptions into technical terms, fix the problems, and explain the solutions in terms the users can understand
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner
