Role Summary: Business Unit Finance Leader for the Respiratory Health and Cardiology divisions of Baxter International. Full P&L responsibility for two high-growth divisions within Front Line Care with revenues exceeding $2670M and annual growth of 10%+ in $2B+ TAMs. Strategic business partner and advisor for Divisional Business Leaders. Directs the financial planning and analysis activities to drive improved business results in assigned divisions. This role is the critical subject matter expert in areas such as Third-Party Reimbursement, Planning/Forecasting, target setting, ROI and NPD financial modeling, reporting, and ensuring the business meets deliverables. Directs a team of managers that will assist with planning/reporting as well as finance ownership for the Respiratory Health and Cardiology divisions. For Cardiology, this role also directs the Controllership function including monthly close processes, financial systems and controls, and other accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Collections, Inventory Management, Tax Compliance, and Treasury. This role is recognized as strategic and influential in the business, with regular interactions with Division and Segment senior leadership.
Job Responsibility
Proactively lead the RH and Cardiology financial planning and analysis activities, including planning, forecasting, long-range planning, monthly operation reviews preparation, reporting, and analysis
Leads a strong team of Managers with focus on development and succession planning
Leads Finance workstream for M&A activity in both divisions, develops acquisition models, and leads finance due diligence for potential acquisitions
Significantly influences the strategy of the assigned businesses through subject matter expertise and partnership with senior leaders in strategy development and deployment
Builds models and leads analysis on third party reimbursement for both divisions to drive maximization of average selling price and billing yield
Partner with business leaders to lead the financial analysis and modeling of portfolio optimization initiatives, new product development decisions, and acquisition analysis including due diligence
Oversee the controllership function for the Cardiology division including month-end close, financial controls, ERP system management, accounts payable and receivable, inventory management, tax compliance, and treasury
Drive compliance with internal controls, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC requirements, and Baxter Financial Policies and Procedures for all related entities and operations
Establishes policies and guidelines within third party reimbursement in areas such as, but limited to, Patient Financial Assistance, receivable write-offs, and asset transfers
Perform aspects of treasury operations including reviewing, approving, and releasing wires, ACH, and check payments in the banking systems
Provide forecasts for the S&OP process to drive appropriate inventory levels
Partner with Sales and Marketing leaders to provide guidance and approval on deal structure, contract and pricing decisions
Lead and participate in teams to define, develop, finalize, recommend and execute implementation project plans as appropriate
Proactively focus on relevant business risks, lead appropriate risk assessments, and determine and drive implementation of mitigation plans
Builds strong teams through motivation, direction, holding individuals accountable and providing challenging work
Coaches and mentors individuals within and outside of team
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (or country equivalent)
MBA/CPA/CMA preferred
Demonstration of key finance competencies and qualifications and typically 15+ years of experience
Proven experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in a leadership role
Strong business acumen and judgment as well as understanding of relevant business environment
Advanced knowledge of Third-Party Reimbursement with full understanding of the complexities of the business model
Ability to effectively influence and drive consensus with diverse stakeholders
demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
Strong negotiation, interpersonal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, tax and legal accounting (Knowledge of acquisition accounting a plus)
Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leadership
Skilled at assembling and managing both ongoing staff, Finance shared service center resources, as well as cross-functional teams as required
Decisive leadership, with ability to generate ideas, develop alternatives, rapidly decide upon best course of action and drive implementation of that decision
