We are seeking a visionary technology leader to build and lead a multi-disciplinary Center of Excellence. Your team's mission is to accelerate our enterprise technology organization by defining and championing best practices across architecture, DevOps, agile, and software testing. This is a senior leadership role for a hands-on engineer who thrives on driving strategy and technical excellence. You will serve as a key technology advisor to our C-suite, taking stewardship of over $200M in technology spend that powers the company's $1.3 billion sales and services flywheel. Your ultimate mandate is to provide clarity and momentum, ensuring every enterprise technology team knows what they are working on, why it matters, and the best practices to deliver value faster.

Job Responsibility:

  • Build & Lead the Team: Build, mentor, and lead the Engineering Acceleration team, fostering a culture of excellence and evangelizing best practices across Bentley's enterprise technology teams
  • Advise Executive Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to the C-suite, translating business strategy into actionable technology roadmaps and influencing our strategy on emerging tech like AI
  • Define the Engineering North Star: Systematically define and communicate the architectural patterns and operational practices that empower our enterprise technology teams to build with speed and confidence
  • Guide Foundational Replatforming: Assume pivotal architectural leadership for the ongoing transformation of our mission-critical Marketing and Sales technology stack, ensuring its successful delivery
  • Govern the Enterprise Portfolio: Take ownership of rationalizing our complex portfolio of business systems, maximizing the value of our investments through data-driven architectural decisions

Requirements:

  • Proven experience advising C-level executives and building high-performing teams
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and modern agile/process frameworks (SAFe, ITIL)
  • Deep expertise architecting core business systems, including platforms such as Optimizely, Marketo, Salesforce, SAP, and Workday
  • Extensive experience delivering large-scale solutions on cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS)
  • Strong grasp of enterprise security and identity management solutions (Microsoft Entra ID, Ping)
  • Proven track record accelerating engineering velocity and quality through modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience with modern integration patterns (API design: REST, GraphQL
  • event-driven architecture) and both relational (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Cosmos DB, MongoDB) databases
  • Experience applying AI/ML to business processes is a significant plus, as is familiarity with major platforms (Gemini, Google Cloud AI, Databricks)
