AI Use Case Engineering is the engineering execution layer within Marriott’s AI Technology organization. We are forward deployed AI engineers embedded with agile teams across the enterprise, turning high-priority use cases into production solutions while building a shared knowledge base of tools, patterns, and architectures that makes every subsequent delivery faster. As a Director, AI Engineering, you serve as the AI Technology Lead for agile teams within a business vertical. You lead and advise those teams, managing a unified backlog and driving use cases from discovery through production with hands-on engineering. Your portfolio includes the highest-complexity engagements: multi-system integrations, large vendor engineering teams, and architectural decisions that set precedent across the AI program. You operate across concurrent engagement modes (Build, Consult, Advise, Monitor), with AI-powered coding assistants and a shared pattern library as required infrastructure. Reports to the Senior Director, AI Engineering (Use Case).
Job Responsibility:
Lead and advise agile teams within your business vertical as the AI Technology Lead, operating concurrently across Build, Consult, Advise, and Monitor engagement modes
Design and build AI agents, multi‑agent workflows, and enterprise integrations using vendor SDKs and agent development kits (AWS, Watsonx, Writer, Copilot Studio, and others)
Coordinate with vendor engineering teams on joint delivery, providing architectural direction and quality oversight
Produce governance artifacts independently and make architectural decisions for use cases within your portfolio
Build comprehensive handoff packages (runbooks, monitoring, documentation) to enable long‑term ownership by business partners
Contribute proven patterns, SDKs, and reference architectures to the shared pattern library after each Build cycle
Mentor engineers and provide architectural guardrails across your portfolio
Requirements:
8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in AI/ML applications, enterprise integrations, or platform engineering or 6+ years of experience with a Master’s degree
Deep proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, writing production‑quality code
Hands‑on experience with LLM application development, including agent building, prompt engineering, or AI workflow automation
Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple concurrent projects or teams
Experience designing REST API integrations in enterprise environments
Strong capability in producing technical and architectural documentation for review boards
Proficiency using AI‑powered coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) as everyday development tools
Experience coordinating with vendor engineering teams, systems integrators, or external technical partners
Nice to have:
Experience with two or more enterprise AI platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP/Vertex AI, Watsonx, Writer, Copilot Studio, or similar)
Hands‑on experience building production‑grade RAG pipelines, including vector stores, embedding models, chunking strategies, evaluation, and monitoring
Experience with multi‑agent systems or orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or vendor‑native SDKs)
Proven track record of building reusable engineering assets (SDKs, libraries, reference architectures) adopted by other teams
Familiarity with enterprise governance and compliance workflows, including architecture reviews, security reviews, and data privacy
Background in hospitality, travel, or large‑scale consumer services environments
