Job Description:

Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by Island Health to conduct a search for their next Director, Diagnostic Imaging. The Director of Diagnostic Imaging will oversee all aspects of the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The role reports to the Chief Information Officer and works collaboratively with the Medical Director of Imaging.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee all aspects of the Diagnostic Imaging Department, including strategic planning, daily operations, staffing, staff training and development, and fiscal management
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives
  • Foster collaboration across clinical departments to provide safe, efficient patient care and innovative imaging services

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or health-related field is strongly preferred
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a Technologist, with at least three years of experience in a supervisory or management position
  • Active state and national license and certifications applicable to area of specialty within Diagnostic Imaging

  • Perform a variety of imaging examinations, including X-rays, ultrasound, diagnostic fluoroscopy, CT/CAT scans, and MRIs
  • Perform complete diagnostic imaging tests on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols under the direction of the Medical Director
  • Obtain and document patient history
  • Prepare equipment ensuring that equipment is operational, safe and functioning according to diagnostic standards
  • Perform periodic QA and ensures requisite documentation
  • Problem solve equipment failure and contact appropriate personnel regarding equipment problems
  • Ensure that daily equipment and room maintenance are performed before/during/ after each procedure, and that special precautions and measures are performed to ensure infection control standards
  • Complete all quality checks and ensure that equipment logs are maintained
  • Complete all clinical supply inventories, ensuring that each diagnostic room is complete with the necessary supplies required to perform the procedure
