Meta is seeking a hands-on leader to build and scale the Data Licensing Partnerships function. As Director, Data Licensing Partnerships, you will lead a global team responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing high-impact data licensing partnerships that enable Meta’s AI and product innovation. This role is critical to Meta’s ability to accelerate AI and product innovation through world-class data partnerships. You will shape the future of Meta’s data ecosystem, drive strategic value, and lead a high-performing team at the intersection of technology, business, and external partnership. Your leadership will ensure Meta secures and leverages best-in-class data assets, directly impacting the company’s ability to deliver innovative products and maintain a competitive edge in the global technology landscape.
Job Responsibility:
Define and execute the global data licensing partnership strategy, focused on accelerating Meta’s access to and use of critical data assets for AI and product development
Identify, vet, and secure strategic data licensing, supply, and joint development partnerships with leading data providers, technology companies, and research organizations
Oversee strategic relationships with Meta Superintelligence Labs’ largest human data labeling partners
Lead complex commercial and technical negotiations, structuring agreements (e.g., co-development, licensing, supply guarantees) that ensure Meta’s data needs are met with resilience and compliance
Manage a portfolio of partnerships across the data value chain, from raw data acquisition to integration with Meta’s AI and product teams
Serve as the primary external representative for Meta’s Data Licensing Partnerships, building key relationships with industry leaders, academic researchers, and regulatory bodies
Work closely with Meta’s AI, Product, Legal, and Engineering teams to translate partner capabilities and data assets into actionable product and research roadmaps
Establish and lead a global team of Partnership Managers and Technical Liaisons, fostering a culture of technical rigor, accountability, and partnership excellence
Develop clear metrics and dashboards to track the health, value, and ROI of all key data licensing partnerships
Provide regular reports and updates on partnership activity, performance, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership
Ensure all data licensing activities adhere to privacy, security, and compliance standards
Drive continuous improvement in partnership processes, deal execution, and team performance
Requirements:
15+ years of total experience in technology, data, or AI sectors, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role focused on strategic partnerships, business development, or corporate strategy
5+ years of direct management experience leading and scaling high-performing, geographically distributed teams
Demonstrated technical fluency in data licensing, AI, and/or enterprise data solutions
Proven track record of successfully negotiating and executing multi-million-dollar data or technology deals (e.g., data supply agreements, IP licensing, R&D partnerships)
Experience leading cross-functional teams to orchestrate and complete complex deals, including interpreting legal documents and working with attorneys
Exceptional executive communication, presentation, and influencing skills with the ability to operate effectively at the highest levels both internally and externally
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related technical field
Nice to have:
Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) in a relevant technical or business field
Experience with AI products, technologies, and data licensing models
Experience launching or scaling data-driven products or platforms
Extensive network within the global data, AI, and technology ecosystem
Experience operating within an internal startup or highly ambiguous environment
Familiarity with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements for data licensing
