Job Description

The Director, Data Architect and Engineering leads technical strategy of data and end-to-end delivery of a robust, trustworthy, scalable and AI-ready GC Marriott’s Data platform, which enable high quality, consumable data products and user friendly tools to support our guest, associates and properties, so that everyone in Marriott GC continent has what they need to make good decisions every day. As a data platform leader, the role will also define and oversee GC data governance framework, acting as pioneer to embed governance into business workflows, drive compliance, and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making.

Job Responsibility

  • Define technical strategy, direction, and roadmap for data architecture and engineering
  • Lead and provide hands-on support to end-to-end lifecycle of GC Marriott’s data platform, including architecture design, technical roadmap development, implementation, and continuous optimization
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Data/AI Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and accountability
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key technical stakeholders (GC/HQ), third-party vendors, industry partners, and core business teams
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and refinement of GC data governance framework
  • Provide technical oversight for data engineering and AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with architecture standards and business objectives
  • Drive the delivery of business value through data initiatives, measuring the impact of data products and tools on key business metrics
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data & AI

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in big data platform management, data engineering
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional environments and large-scale transformation, focusing on delivery business value
  • Bachelor or above degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with Data/AI engineering work
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture, data governance, and MLOps best practices
  • Familiarity with big data technology, especially cloud-native platform (e.g. Alicloud, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and project management skills
