This role operates within the UK Legal Entity Compliance Oversight (LECO) function; the role will be central in shaping LECO and the Legal Entity’s approach to regulatory governance partnering across the UK and the wider Group to ensure compliance with relevant internal and external regulations and law. The Director, Regulatory Projects and Support will join an expanding LECO team to support the growing regulatory change demands and evolution of the team to strengthen second-line project governance and execution to drive consistency in approach to govern and execute regulatory projects to better align with regulatory expectations, implement industry best-practices and deliver against a rapidly developing regulatory agenda. The role will additionally provide support to the 2nd line in challenging the 1st line in day to day regulatory activities, and providing support to other directors within the UK LECO.
Job Responsibility:
Establish consistent governance, reporting and use of project management tools across LECO to effectively manage projects to drive resolution of risks, issues and challenges related to projects
Understand UK regulatory requirements and expectations and use that knowledge to make informed challenge of regulatory initiatives
Design and deliver LECO’s response to regulatory change initiatives, ensuring delivery meets internal policy standards and evolving regulatory expectations. Be able to move seamlessly between managing regulatory projects and supporting other directors in the provision of regulatory advice
Lead high priority cross-functional regulatory change initiatives impacting multiple business units, including linkages and dependencies with groups both within and outside LECO and cross-functional teams
Be a strong leader and team player building trusted relationships across business and control functions, influencing decisions without direct authority
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure strategic alignment across critical stakeholder groups, and provide updates to senior stakeholders and governance forums
Requirements:
Project management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to clearly advise on progress, roadblocks and successfully drive project progress
Superlative verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively influence, multitask, and prioritize as business needs evolve with a high degree of comfort amongst senior leaders both informally and formally
Ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and handle changing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while leading with limited direct authority
Experience delivering large, complex, enterprise-level initiatives with multiple partners under high pressure and tight timeframes
Regulatory (FCA handbook, payments, and consumer credit) experience
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the UK is required
