The Director of Business Development & In‑Licensing will drive Theramex’s inorganic growth agenda by independently sourcing, evaluating, and securing high‑value licensing opportunities across international markets driving innovation in Women’s Health in its widest sense. This role blends strategic opportunity assessment with hands‑on dealmaking, engaging both internal experts and external stakeholders to shape portfolio expansion and innovation. This position requires navigating complex cross‑functional environments to bring good science to the fore, build compelling business cases, guide decision‑making at Board level, and support broader strategic corporate development activities when needed. Ultimately, the Director will play a pivotal role in sustaining the company’s strong growth trajectory and meeting the strategic priorities of Theramex’s private equity investors.
Job Responsibility:
Work closely with the Chief Corporate Development Officer (CCDO), Member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), to review, assess and acquire new in-organic growth opportunities for presentation to the Board (Private Equity owned)
Identify and assess relevant in-organic growth opportunities, including reviewing competitive landscape, evaluating macroeconomic trends, and working with IQVIA data and other industry sources, building business cases, performing valuations and preparing slides for Board decisions
Effectively source, identify and triage target opportunities and communicate the strategic and industrial logic of the relevant opportunity for the Theramex business to key stakeholders
Strong relationships and engagement with KOLs to assess areas of unmet need and, with the support of Medical, help run Advisory Boards to generate potential leads for evaluation
Negotiate new product-licensing opportunities with third parties which are in line with the company's geographic and therapeutic expansion goals
Together with the CCDO, participate in the negotiation and settlement of licensing deals
Be able to work with senior executives, including members of the ELT, key employees at Theramex, and investor representatives, Board Members and advisors and consultants engaged on particular projects
Work cross-functionally to review expansion opportunities with Theramex's existing portfolio (e.g., portfolio optimisation)
To extent necessary also support activities in relation to M&A or product acquisition
Requirements:
Educated to degree level
an advanced degree is preferred
Experience in European pharmaceutical business development with an international remit
pan‑European exposure strongly preferred
Proactive, highly autonomous self‑starter who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and driving work forward independently
Demonstrated track record of leading licensing transactions, supported by a clear, deal‑focused transaction sheet showcasing relevant in‑licensing deals
Strong understanding of EU pharmaceutical licensing frameworks, regulatory pathways, and commercial drivers across major European markets
Strong financial acumen, including valuation, forecasting, and business‑case development
Proven negotiation capabilities with a record of successfully concluding multiple deals
Ability to influence, collaborate, and build strong relationships across all levels within a matrix organisation, with an understanding of key functions such as pricing and market access, regulatory, legal, logistics, sales & marketing, and quality
High proficiency in handling IQVIA data and other industry data or research platforms
Excellent organisational, communication, influencing (internal and external), and project management skills
Able to work independently, delivering high‑quality outputs to the CCDO, while also effectively leading and coordinating within cross‑functional teams
Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and provide flexibility to support team as needed
Strong ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity simultaneously
Ability to learn and adapt, with ‘can-do’ attitude
Willingness and ability to travel extensively as required (up to ~30-40% in specific conference weeks only)
Able to actively participate in integration activities when needed
