Meta seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as its Director and Head of Law Enforcement Outreach for APAC. This is a full time role responsible for managing the regional team in developing and maintaining strategic relationships with law enforcement authorities, government agencies with an Internet safety and security focus and related industry coalitions. The team advocates for Meta on the big law enforcement issues of the day - including user privacy, security and safety - and often plays a part in high-profile debates. In this leadership role, you'll combine creativity and problem solving rigor with the organizational skills to manage key relationships, tactical response to agencies, critical campaigns and projects. You are fluent in technology, have proven experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, start-up environment, passionate about Meta's mission and will apply your expertise to real-world scenarios, acting as an inspiring leader and advocate to help shape the future of the Internet and technology industry.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and empower an experienced, effective and people-centered team in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with law enforcement and government authorities for Meta and its family of apps and products
Develop a strategic program for managing effective working relationships with law enforcement and security officials, government authorities, and industry coalitions
Represent Meta and communicate our positions on key law enforcement issues in meetings and presentations to law enforcement, policymakers, government, regulators, institutional stakeholders and civil society actors
Design and execute country focused programs on online safety, privacy, and security to address key issues across the region and build confidence amongst law enforcement and government agencies
Identify, monitor & analyze law enforcement issues at the intersection of technology, social media and local developments impacting the safety of Meta users
Work closely with cross functional teams such as legal and public policy on engagement with law enforcement authorities, regulators and legislators on online safety, security and law enforcement issues
Work closely with Meta’s legal teams and outside counsel in the development and execution of internal policies relating to the processing of legal requests from authorities
This role may require after hours work, including weekends and occasionally on holidays, in order to support emergency matters, and travel as needed with occasional travel outside the region, particularly to the United States
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
15+ years of work experience including strategic roles engaging with different stakeholders, managing high-profile campaigns and programs within the law enforcement and/or safety space
Experience leading a broad team and exercising judgment and presence of mind in a rapidly changing environment
Experience assessing, analyzing, and resolving issues across multiple topics while meeting deadlines
Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners at all levels, driving and managing multiple projects and cross-functional campaigns simultaneously
Proven experience in public communication and delivering presentations
Nice to have:
Leadership experience working with government authorities and agencies in APAC
Experience working with law enforcement, security agencies, regulators, government, data protection authorities, financial institutions, and/or Internet industry associations
Experience in internet technologies, understanding of cyber laws, security, privacy, content moderation, and the surrounding policy environment
Advanced degree preferred, including a law degree
Experience with laws relating to law enforcement requests for data and regulations governing content on intermediary platforms
