Job Description:

To respond promptly to customer needs and requests. Perform a wide variety of general maintenance tasks to solve the situation at hand. Be proactive regarding preventative maintenance and identification of repairs required and areas for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Considerable knowledge in building HVAC and plumbing system and their operation
  • Basic knowledge in electrical field
  • Working knowledge of all hand tools use in the trades such as electrical testing meter, water gauges, and alignment instruments to perform preventive maintenance on a variety of mechanical equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to use and follow department and manufacture recommendations and guidelines both written and oral to perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment and their associated controls
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with insurable driving record
  • Considerable experience performing maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems in a light commercial institutional setting

Nice to have:

  • Mechanical license, plumbing license, electrical license or equivalent training and certification in all or one of these fields
  • City of Norfolk backflow certification
  • Training in preventive maintenance and repair of building mechanical equipment in one or more trades
