Job Description:

As a SACM Technician, you will ensure that every piece of IT equipment-from laptops and smartphones to complex audio-visual setups-is accounted for, functional, and secure. You will balance technical "hands-on" troubleshooting with the meticulous management of our Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee IT assets from initial acquisition and deployment through to decommissioning and secure disposal in compliance with WEEE regulations
  • Provide second-line technical support, including fault diagnosis, maintenance, and root cause analysis for end-user devices and peripherals
  • Maintain the accuracy of the CMDB, ensuring all configuration items are recorded and audited regularly
  • Ensure all user devices remain within one version of the current operating system release to maintain high security and compatibility standards
  • Lead the setup and maintenance of audio-visual equipment and assist with the deployment of assets during major IT projects
  • Work closely with the Digital Service Desk to provide operational cover and assist with high-demand periods or complex service requests.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in second-line IT support and hardware troubleshooting
  • A strong understanding of ITIL frameworks, specifically Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM)
  • Ability to convey technical information in user-friendly terms to clinical and administrative staff
  • Comfort with manual handling, working under desks, in confined spaces, or at heights
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rota and travel between various sites as required
