The Digital Midwife is a Band 6 registered midwife who combines high-quality clinical midwifery practice with a key role in supporting digital transformation within the Maternity Unit at Great Western Hospital. The post holder will provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based midwifery care to women, birthing people, and their babies across the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal pathway, in line with professional standards and Trust values.
Job Responsibility:
Provide holistic midwifery care to women, birthing people, and their babies throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods
Support the effective implementation, optimisation, and ongoing use of maternity digital systems, including electronic patient records
Promote high-quality data capture, support staff digital literacy, and contribute to system development, testing, training, and change management
Deputise for the Band 7 in all clinical areas, contributing to leadership, team coordination, and the smooth running of the maternity service
Requirements:
Registered Midwife with current NMC PIN (or diploma with equivalent experience)
Practising Midwife
Maintained an up to date professional portfolio
Training in obstetric emergencies
Valid driving licence
Recent experience in all aspects of midwifery practice in the UK
Competencies relevant to sphere of practice
Nice to have:
Teaching/Mentoring qualification
Evidence of further study and professional development
