Job Description

Our client is looking to hire a Digital Lead who will be responsible for managing a cross-functional digital team, overseeing transitional service agreements, establishing governance, and aligning future digital strategy with board and external stakeholder expectations. This will be a Wellington based contract role till December 2026 with a possible extension.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the Digital Workstream: Direct all digital initiatives and workstreams leading up to the official launch/commencement date of the new entity
  • People Management: Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary digital team
  • Manage Transition Agreements: Oversee the relationship with the parent organization and digital teams
  • Transition-Out Planning: Lead the development and execution of the 'transition out' schedule to ensure operational independence
  • Implement Digital Governance: Establish clear governance frameworks
  • Board & Executive Reporting: Manage expectations and provide strategic digital updates directly to the Board of Directors and key executive stakeholders

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Programme Lead / Manager in complex environments
  • Ability to lead technical delivery team
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • High attention to detail with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset
  • Strong working knowledge of Digital systems in public sector
  • Experience in Central agencies or Crown entities will be desirable
