We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Stoke Heath, working as a Digital Functional Skills Teacher. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work with, and be supported by, our amazing team of dedicated professionals to mentor our learners and help them to secure future employment opportunities post-release
  • You will need patience, passion, flexibility and understanding in your approach to our learners, who have 'hit a bump in the road' but want to learn and improve

Requirements:

  • Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • Have a good previous track record of achieving quality targets
  • Have willingness to engage with and produce accurate and timely reports
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have an ability to motivate and enthuse learners in the subject matter
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines/targets
  • Advocate for and engage consistently in positive team working
