This role supports one of New Zealand’s most significant and technically complex vertical infrastructure developments. The project is a large-scale, secure operational facility being delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) and joint venture model, bringing together some of the country’s most experienced construction, engineering and service delivery organisations. Designed to operate around the clock once complete, the facility incorporates high-security environments, complex building systems, and long-term asset management requirements. The project environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative and governance-led, with strong interface management across public and private sector stakeholders.
Job Responsibility
Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the BIM Management Plan
Establish BIM standards, processes and workflows aligned with project and client requirements
Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary BIM models, ensuring integration and compatibility across all project phases
Facilitate BIM kick-off meetings and define digital engineering objectives with project stakeholders
Oversee model coordination, including clash detection, resolution and reporting
Ensure BIM deliverables are produced on time and meet required quality standards
Support integration of BIM with planning (4D), cost (5D) and asset management systems
Manage the Common Data Environment (CDE) and ensure effective information flow across the project
Lead coordination meetings between design, construction and contractor BIM teams
Provide leadership and day-to-day support to the BIM Coordinator (Digital Engineering)
Drive continuous improvement in digital engineering processes, tools and systems
Act as the primary point of contact for BIM-related queries across the project
Requirements
Proven experience in BIM or Digital Engineering management on complex infrastructure or construction projects
Strong leadership experience managing BIM teams and coordinating across disciplines
Advanced knowledge of BIM tools, systems and Common Data Environments
Experience in model coordination, clash detection and integrated project delivery
Ability to develop and implement BIM standards, processes and execution plans
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Strong organisational and problem-solving capability in fast-paced environments
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline
5+ years’ experience in BIM or Digital Engineering leadership roles
Experience managing multi-disciplinary models and consultant coordination
Strong understanding of BIM lifecycle delivery, including design, construction and handover
Proficiency in industry BIM software and collaboration platforms
