This position is a union position; therefore, provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreement/labor contract apply to the filling of this position. This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Overtime is a condition or employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
Job Responsibility:
Performs routine tasks in the kitchen, dining room, or other dietary areas
Performs routine food distribution and cleanup duties
Takes inventory and document daily records of nourishments, leftovers, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures
Clean and maintains sanitary standards of kitchen, washing, scrubbing, mopping, dusting, polishing, or waxing floors, walls, windows, woodwork, furniture, appliances, fixtures, and equipment
Assists in preparing Ala Cart menu items, room trays (early or late) sack lunches for outings or medical appointments as needed
Rotation for familiarity and knowledge to be proficient in all areas of the Dietary Department
Assists in preparing foods for cooking and in cooking operations
Prepare food line and maintain food supply during serving
Operate and maintains cleaning equipment within the kitchen area
Requirements:
Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school SUPPLEMENTED by six (6) months experience in dietary related support service
Requires ability to pass a background check
Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers
Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
Completion of an Illinois Department of Public Health approved food handling training program and obtain an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment
