Job Responsibility:

  • Follows lab procedures for specimen collection, handling and processing
  • Adheres to patient test management protocols
  • Clarifies discrepancies in test orders with physician or Diagnostic Supervisor
  • Performs and documents instrument maintenance and calibration
  • Maintains required clerical records for Lab and X-Ray
  • Participates in proficiency testing
  • Performs all activities necessary to produce correct x-rays
  • Assists Diagnostic Supervisor in teaching and on-the-job training of lab/x-ray procedures for new personnel
  • Performs other patient care duties when required
  • Carries out EXAMINE protocols accurately and in a timely manner
  • Assists the Diagnostic Supervisor in maintaining the appropriate laboratory and X-ray supplies

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Radiology or Laboratory Medicine
  • One year of experience in patient care is preferred
  • Radiology graduates: American Registry of Radiology Technology (ARRT)
  • Laboratory Medicine graduates: certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity
  • Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio
  • Must be able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport supplies, patients/residents, or equipment using good body mechanics
  • Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds
  • Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the other rapidly
  • Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds
  • Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self directed to complete jobs as ordered
