The Diagnostic Specialist-MSSM is a professional individual who supports quality patient care, performs routine examinations, assists physicians and registered nurses with daily clinical activity and performs standard diagnostic procedures.
Job Responsibility:
Plans and manages patient care according to each patients needs
Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition
Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration
Provides routine care for patients
Reviews medical charts
Accompanies patients to their rooms
Assists physicians and registered nurses
Communicates with patients and their families
Performs standard diagnostic procedures including EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, spirometry, etc.
Prepares specimens for lab courier
Administers medications
Provides wound care
Prepares and administers injections
Verifies that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately
Observes and records patients conditions and reactions to medications and treatment
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Completion of a New York State-approved training program in licensed practical nursing
