Job Description:

The Reality Lab in Meta is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. We are a team of experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. In this role, you will be responsible for manufacturing design and development to solve complex problems that directly impact final product quality, cost and delivery of Meta Smart Glasses. You will define and implement manufacturing process best practices to the design of our products. You will be a key member of the Technical Operations team and will partner closely with Hardware Engineering, SIE, Quality, Test Engineering and our Manufacturing partners providing early and on-going manufacturing involvement to ensure new products are manufacture-able from concept to mass production and through end of life.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with Meta Hardware Product Design teams to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges by following best DFX practices and principles
  • To develop fully automated manufacturing equipment for glasses assemble lines to improve assembly accuracy, quality, and production repeatability
  • Work closely with the contract manufacturer and automation vendors to develop new technology in automation to improve both machine performance and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams during the NPI phase, making sure automation developments are within the overall project schedule and cost budget
  • Automation line development & qualification process
  • Support product cost reduction using automation and production sustaining activities
  • Capture all build issues during engineering build, work out corrective action with cross functional teams. Work closely with the OSE/SQE/GSM/Capex/PD team on cost reduction

Requirements:

  • BSME or equivalent (MSME, MSIE desired)
  • 5+ years in engineering role with experience in product design as well as manufacturing engineering
  • Experience in complex automation development, including automation layout, cycle time, and motions system qualification
  • Experience in robotics programming and simulation
  • Experience in computer vision and sensors application in the automation line
  • Experience in applying GD&T, tolerance analysis, DOE setup, failure analysis, PFMEA, and MSA during machine development
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a worldwide team environment
  • Proficient in the use of 3D mechanical design tools, such as Pro-E, NX, Catia etc

Nice to have:

  • Experience in production line development techniques including assembly process flow, Equipment list, Equipment DFM, SOP, etc
  • Able to understand and challenge tolerance for assemblies to meet design requirement
  • Experience in complex automation development, including automation layout, cycle time, and motions system qualification
