Building on our oil & gas subsea expertise, we are now expanding into subsea power distribution for the renewable energy market. We are now looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our Power & Controls division at Tranby. The offices are centrally located 10 minutes from Drammen and 30 minutes from Oslo. In this role, you will work with the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Power & Controls' internal development and R&D infrastructure. You will support project teams by ensuring stable and secure platforms, reliable tooling, and efficient development environments across ongoing and upcoming projects.
Job Responsibility
Operate, maintain, and continuously improve a self-hosted, Linux-based infrastructure, primarily built on Debian and VMware clusters
Manage and maintain lab network infrastructure
develop and implement network security strategies with corporate IT
Manage and evolve core development and R&D services such as Git, Github, Jenkins, Redmine, simulators, and code review tools
Maintain and optimize network services, including Apache, NFS, SSH, monitoring, and remote access solutions
Ensure stable, secure, and well-maintained database platforms (PostgreSQL and MySQL)
Manage and support backup and recovery solutions, including Bacula and Veeam
Manage software licenses and related agreements
Support project teams with tooling, CI/CD workflows, and development environments
Introduce new services, automation, and improved ways of working to support upcoming projects
Define and drive a holistic infrastructure strategy across disciplines
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across infrastructure, services, and development workflows
Act as the main technical interface towards corporate IT, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity requirements and infrastructure compliance
Requirements
Solid experience with Linux system administration (preferably Debian/Ubuntu or similar)
Hands-on experience with virtualization (VMware or equivalent) and infrastructure operations
Good understanding of networking principles and common Linux network services (e.g. Apache, NFS, SSH)
Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar) used for automation and tooling
Experience working with development infrastructure, such as Git and CI/CD systems (e.g. Jenkins or similar tools)
Experience with network administration
A structured and reliable way of working, with strong focus on stability, quality, and maintainability
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, with motivation to support project teams
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines and stakeholders
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, in line with project and customer requirements
